Tracey Hughes

Tracey Hughes is a unique individual and a true icon in the hairdressing industry. Her commitment was acknowledged when she was awarded the ultimate accolade of 2011 Australian Masters for her dedication to the growth and profile of hairdressing.

Born in England, Tracey began her career in 1986 at Christopher Boyton in the UK and after travelling to Australia as a backpacker in 1991, she chose to migrate to Australia permanently.

In 1997, Tracey established Mieka Hairdressing in Collingwood, Melbourne, with her second salon opening its doors in Nobby Beach, Queensland some 14 years later.

Tracey's energy and passion towards her work is both blatant and infectious. She has won both Hairdresser of the Year and Colourist of the Year and has led her team to win Salon of the Year numerous times.

Tracey's impressive hairdressing skills, technical knowledge and creativity make her a highly sought after educator. Winning Australian Educator of the Year twice plus Excellence in Training evidences this.

She has presented educational events across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, India, South Africa, Mexico, Sweden UK and USA.

Tracey Hughes Education is a leading education brand providing educational DVD's and on-line education programs along with customized tuition.

Tracey is a Hair Director at Australian Fashion Week and Sydney Fashion Festival and a session stylist at New York Fashion Week. With an astute ability to forecast tends, Tracey is renowned for producing stunning images that are published in over 50 publications across 30 countries worldwide.

As a fashion adviser to the Media, Tracey regularly writes articles for trade and consumer fashion magazines and websites and her distinctive work has been featured on countless front covers.

A mentor and coach Tracey Tracey has touched many lives, teaching over 10,000 hairdressers per year, every year for the past 20 years.

Our Educators

Lucas Dowling

Lucas Dowling is a talented and experienced stylist who is responsible for running the Classic Cutting program for Tracey Hughes Education.

Lucas began his early hairdressing career in Queensland and joined Tracey and the Mieka Hairdressing team in 2007 where he has undergone extensive technical and leadership training.

Lucas has displayed an absolute commitment in gaining an exceptional standard of knowledge and creativity in cutting. His abilities have subsequently seen Lucas become the Principle Educator for Mieka hairdressing.

After relocating back to Queensland to become the Manager and a shareholder in the Mieka Nobby's Beach Salon, Lucas now travels between the two salons to deliver all of Mieka's training programs.

Lucas enjoys and embraces all aspects of training and learning. A talented educator, Lucas's strength lies in his precise and thorough technical knowledge of precision cutting and his down to earth facilitation style. His work is innovative, beautiful and sexy.

Lucas is also an experienced editorial stylist and his high fashion styling ability has seen him work with many prestigious designers backstage at Australian Fashion Week and Sydney Fashion Festival.

Lucas loves the dynamic team atmosphere education creates and there is no doubt that this stylist relishes the creative output of hairdressing.

Olivia Zyneych

Olivia Zyneych has successfully become one of Australia's leading colourists and is responsible for running the Creative Colour program for Tracey Hughes Education.

Olivia began her career in regional Victoria and joined the MIeka Hairdressing team in 2007. Under the personal mentorship from Tracey, Olivia was coached with management training and in 2009 Olivia was promoted to Salon Manager then a year later proudly became a shareholder of Mieka in Collingwood.

Olivia believes that understanding the fundamental laws of colour in the first instance allows her to educate and support the development of colourists both through the education programs at Mieka and Tracey Hughes Education.

Olivia enjoys mentoring other colourists through workshops focusing on the principles of colour, product knowledge and creative colour placement.

An inspiring leader, Olivia has been recognized as a Finalist in 2011 Australian Colour Technician for the Hair Expo awards and a finalist for 2011 Australian Creative Colourist for the Australian Hair Fashion Awards.

Olivia has an eye for suitability, a dedication to attention to detail and her work is undeniably beautiful yet wearable with a distinctive edge.
